Very quick logo for a new toy store, featuring… Comic Sans! Per request. The first revision had a typeface, like you’d see on old wooden blocks, but the client likes Comic Sans, and I get a perverse pleasure out of using it, since it’s so wrong and bad*. It’s like putting pink fenders on my burly mountain bike.
*In design circles. Lots of ‘nice’ fonts look crappier on the screen than Comic Sans. I think more designers should really LOOK at some of the screen fonts they choose, and reject the ones with horrible kerning at small sizes. Some are just print fonts. Get used to it. *cough* Helvetica *cough*

Logo for Jim Minarck – fine woodworker
Jim’s work is beautiful and creative. Really cool stuff; classic cabinetry, or unique pieces of reclaimed wood and steel. See his Woodworking blog. He lists finished pieces on Portland Craigslist, and takes commissions for custom work.
He made some small end tables out of sections of cedar telephone poles painted red. The tops are beautifully finished, and he left the aluminum tags and telephone markings nailed to the side.
His shop is in Newberg, and he does installs in Portland, or out at the coast. His number is 971-241-6006.
